Rebates & Funding
There are several ways you may be able to access financial support towards psychological services. Your eligibility will depend on your individual circumstances, referral arrangements, and level of cover.
Medicare:
If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP or another eligible medical practitioner, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for individual psychology appointments.
Eligible clients can currently access Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual mental health treatment sessions per calendar year.
Medicare does not cover the full appointment cost, and an out-of-pocket amount will apply.
You do not need a referral to attend Psyche privately.
Private Health Insurance:
Depending on your level of Extras cover, you may be eligible to claim a rebate for psychology appointments through your private health insurer.
Rebate amounts and annual limits vary between insurers and policies, so we recommend contacting your health fund directly to confirm your eligibility and expected rebate.
Private health insurance and Medicare cannot be claimed for the same appointment.
Other Funding Arrangements:
If you are hoping to access psychological services through another funding arrangement, you’re welcome to get in touch before booking to discuss whether Psyche is able to accommodate this.
Cancellation Policy
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. Providing adequate notice if you are unable to attend allows the appointment to be offered to someone else who may be waiting and helps Psyche provide a fair and accessible service to all clients.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an individual appointment:
More than 48 hours’ notice
No fee applies.24–48 hours’ notice
50% of the appointment fee applies.Less than 24 hours’ notice or non-attendance
The full appointment fee applies.
Cancellation and non-attendance fees are not eligible for a Medicare rebate and are therefore payable privately.
I understand that unexpected circumstances can arise. If something outside of your control prevents you from attending, please get in touch as soon as possible so your circumstances can be considered.

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another.
We’ll talk about what has brought you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, and what you might like support with. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of whether working together feels like the right fit.
There is no expectation that you share everything at once. We can move at a pace that feels manageable for you.

-
There is no set number of sessions that is right for everyone.
The length of therapy can vary depending on what you would like support with, your goals, the therapeutic approach we use, and what feels helpful for you.
We can regularly review how therapy is progressing and make decisions together about what comes next.

Finding the right therapeutic fit is important. Your first appointment gives us an opportunity to meet, discuss what you are looking for, and consider whether my approach feels suitable for you.
If I believe your needs would be better supported by another clinician or service, I will discuss this with you openly and, where appropriate, help you consider other options.

REGULATE can be completed alongside individual therapy and may provide additional practical skills to complement the work you are already doing.
You do not need to be an existing Psyche client or receive your individual therapy through Psyche to participate.
With your consent, there may also be circumstances where communication between treating professionals is helpful in supporting your care.
-
Yes. REGULATE can be completed as a standalone psychological skills program, and you do not need to be attending individual therapy to participate.
For some people, REGULATE can provide a gentler starting point if one-to-one therapy feels daunting, offering an opportunity to develop practical skills, confidence, and a language for understanding emotions before exploring things more individually.
However, participants are strongly encouraged to have an established professional support person, such as a GP, psychologist, or other appropriate health professional, who they can access for individual support if needed.
REGULATE is a skills-based group program and is not intended to replace individual psychological care or crisis support.
-
REGULATE operates as an open group, with opportunities to join at designated points throughout the program depending on the module you are interested in completing.
Group sessions are held after hours via Telehealth to make participation as accessible as possible around work, study, family, and other daytime commitments.
Upcoming start dates, session times, and module availability will be provided upon enquiry.
